What is a checking account?
A checking account is a bank account offered by most financial institutions and designed for everyday spending and money management. It allows you to deposit funds, make purchases, pay bills, withdraw cash, and receive direct deposits.
How do I open a checking account?
It’s easy to open a Telcoe FCU account via online banking, with our mobile app, over the phone, or at a branch. In each case, you'll complete an application, verify your identity, and make any opening deposit.
What documents do I need to open a checking account?
We require a government-issued photo ID, your Social Security number or Tax Identification Number, and proof of address.
Can I set up direct deposit with my checking account?
Yes, you can set up direct deposit with your checking account so that your paycheck or other amounts can be added directly to your account balance. You simply need to provide details about your checking account to your employer or other payee.
What happens if I overdraw my checking account?
You will usually have to pay an overdraft fee if a payment exceeds the funds in your account. Overdraft fees can be avoided by linking your checking account to your Regular Share Savings Account.
Do I need to be a Telcoe Federal Credit Union member to open a checking account?
Yes, you need to be a Telcoe FCU member in order to open a checking account. You are eligible for membership if you:
- Live, work, attend school or worship in the state of Arkansas. You must have an Arkansas driver’s license or state-issued ID
- Are a member of a select Employee Group. Click here to see if your organization is eligible for membership. We are adding new employer partners every month
- Live, work, worship or attend school in Pulaski or Pope County in designated underserved census tracts defined by the NCUA
- Are related (immediate family) to or reside with a Telcoe member
- Have membership with a community partner (Pulaski County Humane Society, Arkansas Learning Alliance, or Child Protection Center). You can join these organizations through Telcoe by making a small donation of $ 5 to $ 25 at the time of your Telcoe FCU account opening.
