Mastercard® Debit Card FAQs

How is a debit card different from a credit card?
A debit card is linked to your checking account, and purchase amounts are deducted from the funds in that account. A credit card allows you to borrow up to an established credit limit and repay the balance later.
Is fraud monitoring included?
Yes. Debit card transactions are monitored for possible fraud. You can also use Card Management in the Telcoe Arkansas App to receive transaction alerts, set spending controls, and turn your card off if it is lost, stolen, or being misused.
What happens if my debit Mastercard® is lost or stolen?
Report your lost or stolen card immediately by calling 1-888-297-3416, available 24/7. You can also disable your card through Card Management in the Telcoe Arkansas App while you contact Card Services. A $15 replacement fee applies.
What happens if I accidentally spend more than I have in my checking account?
Overdraft protection links your checking and savings accounts. If an eligible transaction exceeds your checking balance, available funds are automatically transferred from savings. The transfer fee is lower than the non-sufficient funds fee, and up to six overdraft transfers are allowed each month.
Can I use my debit card for online purchases?
Yes. Your credit union Mastercard® debit card can be used online wherever Mastercard® is accepted. Shop through trusted merchants, check that the site uses an encrypted connection, and avoid entering card information over public Wi-Fi.
Can I use my debit card to withdraw cash?
Yes. Through the CO-OP and CULIANCE networks, you can withdraw cash at thousands of surcharge-free ATMs nationwide.
Can I use my debit card for recurring payments?
Yes. Debit cards can be used for subscriptions, memberships, and other recurring charges. Keep enough money in your checking account to cover each scheduled payment.
Are credit union debit cards accepted everywhere?
Not everywhere, but Mastercard® debit cards are accepted by millions of merchants. You can use your card for in-store and online purchases, recurring payments, travel expenses, and withdrawals at ATMs that accept Mastercard®.
How long does it take to get a debit card from a credit union?
Debit cards are mailed out the same business day that they are requested. Mail delivery typically takes 7-10 business days but can arrive sooner. After your checking account is opened, Telcoe will mail your debit card with activation instructions. Contact Member Services at 501-375-5321 with questions about the status of your card.
Can I use my credit union debit card at an ATM?
Yes. You can use your credit union debit card and PIN at participating ATMs to withdraw cash and complete other available transactions. Use Telcoe’s ATM locator to find surcharge-free CO-OP and CULIANCE locations.
Am I eligible to become a Telcoe FCU member?
Telcoe FCU membership is available to anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Arkansas. You must have an Arkansas driver's license or state-issued ID. Membership is also available to immediate family members of current Telcoe members, employees of select employer groups, and members of certain community organizations.
